Citizens in the Platte County School District will not be able to vote for Board of Education members this year.
“We only have two people submit for the two open spots,” said Tina Zubeck, the district’s School-Community Relations Coordinator.
Incumbent Adam McGinness filed to retain his seat, and newcomer Gary Brown filed to fill the empty seat on the board.
According to Missouri statute, when the number of candidates matches the number of vacant positions, their names do not go on the ballot. This law is intended to save money for the district, which otherwise would have to foot the bill for the election.
