Citizens in the Lee’s Summit School District will not be able to vote for Board of Education members this year.
Incumbent Phyllis Balagna filed to retain her seat. And newcomer Bob White filed for the seat being vacated by Gene Brixey, who chose not to run for another term.
According to Missouri statute, when the number of candidates matches the number of vacant positions, their names do not go on the ballot. This law is intended to save money for the district, which otherwise would have to foot the bill for the election.
