Missouri residents wishing to run for seats on their local school boards have one more day to file for the election next spring. Kansas residents have another week.
Voters from 26 Kansas City metropolitan-area districts in both states will select school board members in the general election Tuesday, April 2.
Listed below are the districts where school board seats will be on the ballot. Click on the hyperlink for more information about how to file:
Kansas
The filing deadline is noon Tuesday, Jan. 22, for all districts in Kansas. There are three open school board seats for every district in this state except one. Turner School District has four open seats due to the recent death of their board president, Randy Beery.
Missouri
The filing deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, for all districts in Missouri. There are two open school board seats for most district on this side of the state line except one. North Kansas City has three positions open, and Park Hill has four. Independence and Kansas City, Missouri, will not be holding elections during this cycle.
