Raymore-Peculiar School District’s Board of Education met Wednesday, June 27, at 7 p.m.
In addition to routine agenda items — such as hearing a summer school update and selling surplus textbooks — board members had a full evening. They reviewed a budget proposal and considered changing district policies.
Superintendent Jeff Kyle presented his budget proposal for the coming fiscal year. According to state statute, school boards must approve annual budgets no later than July 1. UPDATE 6/29/2012: The board approved the budget as presented. http://www.raypec.k12.mo.us/DocumentCenter/Home/View/4494
Most of the policy changes under consideration tonight were in response to the state’s new Amy Hestir Student Protection Act. This Act requires all Missouri school boards to create written policies describing what information they will provide to other public schools regarding former employees. The compliance deadline is July 1.
The Board of Education meeting, which was open to the public, took place in the district’s Administrative Services Center; 21005 S. School Road; Peculiar, MO 64078. Their next regular scheduled meeting will take place Thursday, July 19.
