The Independence School District’s Board of Education met Tuesday, June 12, at 6 p.m.
In addition to routine agenda items — such as making arrangements for microfilm conversion and increasing school lunch prices for next year — board members heard an update on construction projects funded by bond sales approved by voters.
One bond-funded project is the construction of the newly named Little Blue Elementary School. According to district administrators, the building was 95 percent complete last month and was scheduled for completion this month. The first students will walk through its doors when it opens in August.
The Board of Education meeting, which was open to the public, took place at the Central Office; 201 N. Forest Ave.; Independence, MO 64050. Next month’s regular board meeting will take place Tuesday, July 10.
