Fort Osage School District’s Board of Education will meet Tuesday, April 10, at 7 p.m.
In addition to routine items on the agenda, such as recognizing the district’s perfect score on the Highway Patrol’s annual school bus inspection and authorizing the sale of surplus property, board members have a full schedule. They will consider approving new policies, hear an update on projects funded by school bond sales and swear in the two newly elected board members.
Incumbent Diana Rice and newcomer Kelly Scott won the two open seats on the Board of Education in last Tuesday’s election. After swearing them in, board members will select a president and vice president to lead during the 2012-2013 school year.
Also on the agenda is an update on the progress of construction being funded by $7.8 million in school bonds approved by voters last spring. Roof replacements at Buckner Elementary and the Central Office are already complete, as is installation of new stadium lights. Tentatively scheduled for this summer are roof replacements at the Career and Technology Center and Osage Trail Middle School, HVAC upgrades throughout the district and Fort Osage High School classroom renovation.
Four new district policies are under consideration on tonight’s agenda:
- Policy 0320 — School Board Elections
- Policy & Regulation 2710 — Reporting Student Abuse
- Policy 4120 — Employment Procedures
- Policy 4125 — Notice of Arrest, Abuse Complaint, Traffic Citation
- Policy 4210 — Transfer Requests
The Fort Osage Board of Education meeting, which is open to the public, will take place at the Gragg Administrative Office; 2101 N. Twyman Road; Independence, MO 64058.
