North Kansas City’s Board of Education will have to appoint a new board member, now that Tammy Henderson has resigned.
Although she was not present at last Monday’s board meeting, her resignation was on the agenda and the board voted unanimously to accept it.
Henderson — who works as director of real estate marketing and governmental affairs for Hunt Midwest — received her original appointment to the board when another member resigned, and her current term would have ended in April 2014.
Because it is too late for the Clay County Board of Election Commissioners to place a candidate on the ballot for this spring’s elections, North Kansas City board members will have to appoint someone to the now-vacant seat. Usually the appointment process requires interested candidates to submit letters of interest to the board secretary. After reviewing applications, candidates are interviewed and finalists are selected for a second round of interviews one is selected.
The KC Education Enterprise will provide more information for interested applicants as it becomes available.
