The Belton School District’s Board of Education will meet Thursday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m.
In addition to routine items on the agenda, such as hearing a report from Superintendent Andrew Underwood and considering personnel issues, there will be an update on candidates filing for positions on the board.
Because only two candidates filed for two open seats, there will be no election this year. According to Missouri State statute, when the number of candidates matches the number of vacant positions, no ballot is required. This law is intended to save money for the district, which otherwise would have to pay the costs of the election.
The board meeting, which is open to the public, will take place at Gladden Elementary; 405 Westover Road; Belton, MO 64012.
