The Platte County R-3 School District’s Board of Education will meet Thursday, Jan. 19, at 6:30 p.m.
In addition to routine items on the agenda such as paying bills and hearing a budget report, board members have a full schedule this evening. Some significant items on this evening’s agenda include two policy issues, two ballot issues and a legislative update.
Boards of Education set district policies. Tonight the board will vote on revising a fiscal management policy regarding audits. Also, they will review a personnel policy regarding staff relationships with students.
Another board duty is approving issues to be placed on the ballot for voters to decide. Tonight members will receive an update on candidates filing to run for seats on the Board of Education in the April election. The filing deadline was last Tuesday. In addition, board members will be considering a resolution calling for a vote on a tax levy. The deadline for placing issues on the April ballot is Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Also tonight, board members will receive a legislative update. Education is a hot topic during the current session of Missouri’s General Assembly. One important issue state representatives are debating is possibly re-writing the funding formula regulating how much state support each district receives.
The board meeting, which is open to the public, will take place in the Education Center Board Room, 998 Platte Falls Road, Platte City, MO 64079.
