Blue Valley School District’s Board of Education will meet Monday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m.

According to the published agenda, the board will receive an update on the district’s upcoming school bond referendum. In addition, they will consider proposed new policies for the district.

Last year, the board approved a $271 million, 20-year bond issue that registered voters in the Blue Valley School District will vote on this month. If the ballot issue passes, the district plans to spend the money primarily on an early child education center, improvements in existing school buildings, a professional development center and technology upgrades. Voting starts Wednesday, Jan. 11, and ends Tuesday, Jan. 31. The last day for registering to vote in this election is Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Board members will receive information about proposals for two new policies. One is a Tobacco Free Environment policy, and the other is an Access to District Facilities and Events policy.

The Board of Education meeting, which is open to the public, will take place in the District Office Board Room; 15020 Metcalf Ave.; Overland Park, KS 66283.
