The filing deadline is Tuesday, Jan. 17, and the election will take place Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
School board members are citizens who volunteer without pay to determine the policies the superintendent uses to administer the district. The superintendent works for them, and they are responsible for tasks such as long-range planning, establishing the salaries and benefits of certified teachers, approving the annual budget and calling elections for tax levies and bond proposals.
Names will appear on the ballot in order of filing for each position.
Open Positions: Two three-year terms.
Where to File: Stansberry Leadership Center; Board of Education Office; 301 N.E. Tudor Road; Lee’s Summit, MO 64086.
Filing opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, and the office will close at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Office will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Filing closes January 17, 2012, at 5 p.m.
Candidates filing on the last day should arrive by 4 p.m. to make sure the process is complete by the 5 p.m. deadline. The clock cannot be held. Required documents must be checked, and the declaration of candidacy — including signature — must be completed by 5 p.m.
